Luis Diaz to Liverpool ‘deal done’ as first images emerge of winger in red after £37m move
Luis Diaz appears set to be immediately confirmed as a Liverpool player after first images surfaced on social media showing the 25-year-old with the red shirt. Diaz has sealed a January transfer move to Anfield after agreeing terms to leave Porto.
Liverpool surged into pole position to sign the forward after making an eleventh hour move to hijack a potential transfer to Tottenham.
According to widespread reports Jurgen Klopp’s side were set to wait until the summer to move for the Colombian ace, only to see Spurs table an official bid for the winger.
The Reds, led by soon-to-be new sporting director Julian Ward, then entered negotiations with the Portuguese side who Liverpool have already met in the Champions League group stages this season.
Now, with a deal agreed between all parties, the first images have appeared of Diaz in his new club colours.
South American journalist Pipe Sierra tweeted an image of the forward wearing the Liverpool training kit and holding aloft the shirt of his new club.
Diaz can be seen appearing to wear the new training kit of the Reds, while also holding the home shirt of Klopp’s side.
It is yet to be confirmed what number the Colombian ace will wear at Anfield.
Diaz has sealed a £37.4million move to Merseyside, with a further £12m promised to the Portuguese side in potential add-ons.
Porto had reportedly been holding out for an offer north of the £60m mark, but relented after Liverpool came to the negotiation table.
