Mac Studio Gets M2 Max and M2 Ultra Support

As part of its WWDC keynote announcements, Apple has announced a new Mac Studio desktop computer featuring the latest chips in the M2-series.

At the keynote, Apple confirmed the Mac Studio is getting the M2 Mac system on a chip with up to a 25 percent performance over M1-series Mac and four times faster than Intel-based Max. In addition to the M2 Max, Apple also announced the M2 Ulta chip, which features 20 percent faster performance than the M1 Ultra and a 30 percent faster GPU over its predecessor.

On the rear of the Mac Studio, the computer offers four Thunderbolt 4 ports, along with a 10GB Ethernet port, a single HDMI port, and two USB-A ports. While the front of the device includes one SD card slot and two USB-C ports.

The new Mac Studio will include higher-bandwidth HDMI, which is capable of supporting up to 8K resolution and 240Hz frame rates. More interestingly, Apple noted that the Mac Studio, when equipped with the M2 Ultra, is powerful enough to support up to six Pro Display XDRs.

The new Mac Studio will be available to preorder starting today, with pricing beginning at $1,999 with shipping starting on June 13.
