magsafe duo charger: This Apple device launched last year is already ‘outdated’ – Times of India

Apple had introduced the new MagSafe Duo Charger last year along with the iPhone 12 series. The MagSafe Duo Charger enables users to charge the iPhone and Apple Watch together. But if you buy the new Apple Watch Series 7 then the MagSafe Duo Charger will not be able to fast charge it. This is because Apple has added a new fast charging feature in the Watch Series 7, so, the MagSafe Duo Charger that was launched last year will fail to fast charge the Watch 7, making the device outdated.
Apple in its support page mentioned, “MagSafe Duo Charger doesn’t support fast charging with Apple Watch Series 7. To fast charge your Apple Watch Series 7, use the Apple USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable.”
Also note that when charging a non-MagSafe Qi-compatible device with a MagSafe Duo Charger, power is reduced and charge times might be slower than on a typical Qi charger. Thankfully, the MagSafe Duo Charger is compatible with all iPhone 13 models. “The magnets in the charger and in your iPhone will align for optimal charging. Adjusting the position of your iPhone 13 after it begins charging might result in longer charge time,” said Apple.
The Watch Series 7 gets a bigger size, new OS-related features but there’s no new health feature. Apple claims that while the battery life — 18 hours a day — is the same as Watch Series 6, the Series 7 charges 33% faster than its predecessor. It’s a big plus because at times you do feel that the Apple Watch charges quite slowly.
