Man City have huge transfer dilemma as Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane links continue
The 28-year-old has made clear his desire to leave Tottenham in pursuit of silverware. Major trophies have eluded the striker during his 11-year senior career.
Spurs do not want to sell Kane, not least to a Premier League rival, but several reports have suggested that City are preparing a fresh £150million offer this week.
Boss Pep Guardiola publicly urged Spurs to come to the table to discuss a deal before the start of the new season.
Kane missed Spurs’ opening day victory over City due to a lack of fitness but made his first appearance of the campaign in the club’s win against Wolves on Sunday.

But City’s search for a new striker appears to have convinced Ronaldo that he want to join Guardiola’s side.
Juve endured a tough 2020-21 campaign, missing out on a 10th consecutive league title. They finished a lowly fourth under Andrea Pirlo, who was sacked at the end of the season.
Former boss Max Allegri’s reappointment does not appear to have persuaded Ronaldo to remain, though.
He has now entered the race to become Guardiola’s new centre forward, with the Spaniard seeking a replacement for Sergio Aguero. The City icon has joined Barcelona on a free transfer.
Despite the rumours regarding the futures of Kane and Ronaldo, Guardiola has insisted that he would be happy with his squad if no additions are made.
“When we decided to not sign a contract for Aguero and people say what we’re going to do, I said many times: it’ll depend on the market, the options [available],” Guardiola said after his side thrashed Norwich City 5-0 on Saturday.
“Maybe we buy or maybe we’ll not.
“We still have 10 days in the transfer market, we’re going to see what happens, and it depends on that, what decision we are going to take.
“If the team is the same one, I said yesterday before the 5-0 today, I’m more than pleased with the team. I know them really well, they know me really well.
“We put in incredible energy this week to realise that we still want to be there, to try to compete with the good teams in England and good teams in Europe. We want to be there.”
