Man City willing to accept £18m profit on Raheem Sterling as Barcelona face crunch talks

Manchester City have set their asking price for Raheem Sterling amid interest from Barcelona, according to reports. The Premier League champions want to make an £18million profit on Sterling, who recently claimed he’s ‘open’ to leaving for a club abroad.

Man City signed the 26-year-old in a £49m deal from Liverpool in 2015 and he has enjoyed great success at the Etihad Stadium.

Since his arrival, Sterling has won four League Cups, three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and a Community Shield.

But his minutes have been limited this season, making just three league starts after Jack Grealish’s £100m summer arrival.

And according to reports in Spain, City would want to make a profit on Sterling if they are to offload him.

Last week, Sterling revealed he’d be open to leaving City for more game time, with an overseas transfer particularly of interest.

“If there was an opportunity to go somewhere else [for more game time], I would be open to it at this moment in time,” Sterling admitted.

“As I said, football is the most important thing to me – challenges that I have set myself from a young age and dreams as well, to play abroad.

“As an English player, all I know is the Premier League and I have always had something down [in me] that maybe one day I would love to play abroad to see how I would come up against that challenge.”

City boss Pep Guardiola has suggested he would let Sterling depart if the England international believes it’s the best decision.

He said: “What I want from Raheem and everyone is they have to be satisfied to be here and delighted to be in this club.

“If that’s not the case, they are free to make the best decision for the player and his family. Not just Raheem, all of them want to play every game, but I cannot assure them.

“They have to improve every training session and be there on the pitch and try to be happy there.”
