Man orders Sony headphones worth Rs 19,900 from Amazon India, gets toothpaste instead

Amazon delivers toothpaste instead of Sony headphones

  • This incident was shared on X (Twitter) by Yash Ojha who shared a video of him unboxing the package. Here, we can see that the package includes the Sony headphones box inside.
  • The box is even sealed so it doesn’t look like anyone tampered with it. Inside the box, we see the pouch for the headphones so everything looks fine up until here.
  • But as he opens the pouch, instead of the headphones there’s a toothpaste inside.
  • This is quite hysterical since everything else is fine with the package but the main product is missing from the box. And the need of actually putting a toothpaste inside seems unnecessary at this point.

The product in question is the Sony XB910N wireless noise cancelling headphones priced at Rs 19,990. So to not receive the product at all, and get a toothpaste instead would make anyone mad. Amazon India did reply to the post asking for the customer’s details so they can help solve the issue. But based on the latest post shared by the customer, it looks like Amazon still hasn’t solved the issue.

According to the post, Amazon responded saying that they delivered the correct product. This means that they won’t be getting an exchange or refund on the order. We’ll have to wait and see if this issue is actually resolved, and if the customer will get the correct product or a refund eventually. If there was indeed an error from the seller’s side or Amazon’s delivery, the company should work to fix it.

This isn’t the first time such an incident occurred. One student ended up receiving headphones instead of a MacBook that he had purchased for Rs 76,000. Even though Amazon or Flipkart for that matter only acts as the platform, it’s still their responsibility to ensure such issues are fixed, especially when the purchases are highly priced.
