Man Utd £30m bid, Arsenal open new talks, Chelsea ask for £68m

The summer transfer window opens on Wednesday as clubs battle to land top talent and bring in stars who can make all the difference next season. Premier League teams will be desperate to find an edge that can move them closer to treble winners Manchester City – and the transfer market could prove key.

Liverpool completed the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton last week, while Declan Rice appears to be close to a move to Arsenal. Manchester United are in the market for a top striker but are said to be ‘losing hope’ over a move for Tottenham ace Harry Kane.

Chelsea will be hoping to put their coffers to better use during Todd Boehly’s third transfer window at the helm, with the Blues shelling out mega-money over the last two windows without seeing the results on the pitch.

James Maddison looks set to a move back to the Premier League after being relegated with Leicester and could put pen-to-paper on a deal with either Spurs or Newcastle. And Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier is also targeting a move back to the top-flight after the Whites dropped into the Championship as well.

There is plenty of activity going on behind-the-scenes – so stick around for all the transfer news throughout the day and follow the Express Sport live blog below.
