Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick decides stance on selling Donny van de Beek in January window

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick will not allow Donny van de Beek to leave the club in January. The midfielder appears to be in the plans of the German boss and is set to stay at Old Trafford.

Rangnick could be set to lose a number of players who have grown frustrated by a lack of opportunities in the northwest when the transfer window opens next month.

Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard are both thought to be pushing for a move away, while Phil Jones could also depart.

But, according to The Mirror, Rangnick values Van de Beek and will keep him at the club.

The former Ajax man played the full 90 minutes as United completed their group stages of the Champions League last week with a 1-1 draw against Young Boys.

Since Rangnick took the helm, the 24-year-old also came off the bench late on during his side’s Premier League victories over Crystal Palace and Norwich.

Van de Beek had played just over an hour of Premier League football this season by the time Solskjaer was given his marching orders.

And when he did start in the Champions League against Young Boys back in September, the player was hauled off at half-time.

Van de Beek’s United career looked to be over but he has been given a second chance by Rangnick.

The Netherlands international could now force his way into his new manager’s starting line-up, with the performances of both Fred and Scott McTominay coming under fire this season.

Van de Beek illustrated his creative abilities at his former club and was involved in 75 goals in his 175 appearances for them.

And the Red Devils could use that edge after only managing to score once against Palace and once against Norwich.

Meanwhile, United could be cut five points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal this weekend if the Gunners beat Leeds at Elland Road.

Rangnick’s side are without a game for the second time this week after a coronavirus outbreak at the club.
