Man Utd could be pulling plug on five deals including Harry Kane after ‘calls’

Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly being earmarked as a top target for Manchester United this summer after Erik ten Hag held ‘multiple video calls’ with the highly-rated striker. United will be signing at least one central striker this summer and Harry Kane had been earmarked as a top priority.

But reports this week indicate that United could turn their attention to 20-year-old Hojlund, who earned rave reviews in Serie A this past season. It’s indicated that United are already losing confidence that Tottenham will be willing to sell Kane to a direct rival this summer.

If United do make a move for Hojlund, they’ll likely want to bring in another option up front with Randal Kolo Muani seen as a viable option. But choosing to go with Hojlund and Muani will rule United out entirely from making a big splash for some of Europe’s most lethal strikers.

Express Sport takes a look at five strikers United may be set to miss out on.

Harry Kane

It’s no secret that United are interested in signing the England international and he ticks all the boxes for what they need. But interest in Hojlund and Muani suggests United are also planning for the long-term under Ten Hag.

Both players would be available for significantly less than Kane as well, leaving some change left over to use elsewhere in the squad.

Victor Osimhen

For most United fans, they’ve been pushing to see their club sign either Kane or Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward wrote his name into Napoli folklore this past season by firing them to Serie A glory and he would be a blockbuster signing for the Red Devils.

But, much like Kane, Osimhen won’t come cheap with Napoli in a strong negotiating position this summer.

Dusan Vlahovic

United were reportedly close to signing Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window before the club opted for Wout Wegorst on loan. Juventus appear willing to listen to offers this summer, but it looks as though United may be turning their attention elsewhere.

Goncalo Ramos

The Portuguese starlet took little time to fill Darwin Nunez’s boots at Benfica before impressing on a global stage at the World Cup. His performances for Portugal grabbed the attention of clubs all over Europe with Benfica facing a battle on their hands to keep another star striker this summer.

Jonathan David

The Canadian striker has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and he looks increasingly likely to make the switch this summer after a strong season in Ligue 1. Only Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette scored more goals in the French top flight this season, but United don’t appear to be chasing his signature like they were previously.
