Man Utd could sign ‘world class’ Bayern Munich star perfect for rebuild below £63m value
Manchester United could do far worse than to raid Bayern Munich for one of their highest-profile attacking stars in the summer as part of a large-scale rebuild ahead of next season. The Red Devils look set to be forced into the transfer market in order to reinforce their ranks between now and the following campaign, with a number of their existing options unlikely to be involved at Old Trafford in the long run.
Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are both expected to leave United at the end of the campaign after failing to extend their current deals with the club.
The former has struggled with a handful of injuries since the beginning of the season and has reportedly been deemed surplus to requirements ahead of the summer months.
Meanwhile, Lingard has no intention of staying at United after seeing his involvement strictly limited by Ralf Rangnick in spite of his successful loan spell at West Ham last year.
Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial also look set to depart the club at the end of the season, while Mason Greenwood is unavailable for selection and is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future.
This could leave United with only a handful of senior attacking options, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga.

It seems clear that the addition of a new forward could soon be on the agenda at Old Trafford, with Bayern potentially able to offer United a cut-price solution in advance of the new campaign.
Serge Gnabry could be set to emerge as a realistic option for the Red Devils over the coming months, with his current deal at the Allianz Arena set to expire at the end of next season.
Bayern are said to be keen on extending the former Arsenal winger’s stay at the club but have failed to strike an agreement with his representatives as of yet.
The situation may open the door for United to tempt the Bundesliga giants into selling up with a sensible bid in the summer if they decide to act on their reported interest in his services.
DON’T MISS
United are one of several clubs with a desire to land Gnabry and have been monitoring his progress at Bayern in recent months, according to Sky Germany.
He is valued at £63million by Transfermarkt, but the uncertainty surrounding his future could leave his current employers willing to entertain cheaper offers in the near future.
Although the 26-year-old was previously unable to make the grade in the Premier League with Arsenal, he is now a different beast and would surely represent a real coup for United if he can be snapped up when the bidding opens in the summer.
Gnabry was previously hailed by none other than Rio Ferdinand, who waxed lyrical over the forward after he helped Bayern Munich to reach the Champions League final back in 2020.
“His stats are phenomenal, he’s sitting in the top level, world class,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“He’s come to Germany and set the place on fire, he was absolutely stunning tonight. His decision making has been extraordinary.
“I’ll go as far as to say he’s one of the most improved players in football at the moment. I don’t think anyone’s upwards trajectory is as sharp as his.
“From where he was, being discarded by Arsenal and West Brom, to where he is now. Wow.”
It remains to be seen whether United will eventually target Gnabry in order to reinforce their attacking ranks with a sprinkling of proven talent in the summer.
Whatever happens, it will be crucial for the Red Devils to move smartly and diligently in the upcoming transfer window as they look to avoid being left short of options at the top of the pitch next season.
