Man Utd ‘hoping to capitalise on Lionel Messi to PSG’ with Eduardo Camavinga transfer

Manchester United are hoping to capitalise on Lionel Messi’s imminent move to PSG by signing Eduardo Camavinga, reports say. The midfielder is admired by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he targets more reinforcements, despite already landing Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. And, now, the 18-year-old could be set for a transfer to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have enjoyed a good transfer window so far.

Tom Heaton was the first player to arrive, with the veteran set to keep David De Gea and Dean Henderson on their toes in the goalkeeping department.

United then signed Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, landing the England international in a huge £73million deal.

And they’ve also got an agreement in principle for Raphael Varane, who is set to officially complete his move from Real Madrid later this week.

Now, United are turning their attentions to bolstering their midfield.

Camavinga isn’t the only midfielder under consideration, either.

United are admirers of Wolves star Ruben Neves, with Bruno Fernandes hoping his compatriot moves to Old Trafford.

And they also rate Saul Niguez, with Atletico Madrid open to selling the Spain international before the transfer deadline.

At right-back, United currently have Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka competing for a starting berth.

Yet they’re still aiming to land Kieran Trippier, who is also on Arsenal’s radar as they brace themselves for a potential Hector Bellerin departure.

Former United star Rafael Da Silva recently opened up on Camavinga, insisting he’d be a great signing for the Red Devils.

“He’s a very good player,” Rafael told the TalkingDevils podcast.

“In his first season he was amazing… just incredible at 17.

“Then, like me, like normally happens with younger guys, he dropped a little last season. But this is normal, it’s what comes with adapting to pressure.

“Camavinga is a very good midfielder and I’d love to see him at United.”

Solskjaer, meanwhile, opened up on United’s transfer business so far before their emphatic 4-0 victory over Everton on Saturday.

“We have built a playing squad with a good spread of ages,” Solskjaer said in his programme notes.

“Some really talented young lads, some very experienced senior professionals and some who are right in their prime.

“But what unites everyone, both the players and the staff, is the hunger and enthusiasm that we all have for success.

“We are all ready to take that step on our journey and that requires constant evolution.

“We have already significantly strengthened our squad for the 2021-22 campaign with returning players and the signings of Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho, and the impending arrival of Raphael Varane will bring another new dimension to our collective approach.”
