Man Utd may have added two more signings by the time Sheikh Jassim arrives

Manchester United are, right now, looking for more summer transfers having already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea. Sheikh Jassim is the frontrunner in the race to buy the club, with confidence rising behind the scenes that the Qatari billionaire will be able to seize power at Old Trafford. And it’s possible Erik ten Hag will have two more reinforcements in his squad by the time the takeover saga is put to bed…

Manchester United announced the signing of Mount from Chelsea earlier in the week.

The England international has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, having struggled during his final season at Stamford Bridge.

Mount will wear the famous no 7 shirt at United, with the jersey previously worn by icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Eric Cantona and George Best.

However, he’s not the only fresh face expected at the club this summer as the Red Devils look to challenge Manchester City for Premier League supremacy next season.

United also want a new goalkeeper.

David De Gea is now a free agent and, though the Spain international may yet stay, the Red Devils appear to be making alternative plans.

They’ve been linked with Diogo Costa and David Raya, of Porto and Brentford respectively.

But United are now on the cusp of landing Andre Onana from Inter Milan, with the Cameroon international keen to reunite with Ten Hag.

The duo previously spent three years together at Ajax, helping the Dutch giants win three league titles in the process.

United admire Onana for his ability with the ball at his feet.

And having watched Alisson and Ederson transform Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, Ten Hag is hoping the 27-year-old can be an upgrade on De Gea between the sticks.

The second signing United want to make is that of a new No 9.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Wout Weghorst are no longer at the club, while Anthony Martial has long been infuriatingly inconsistent.

United also remain without Mason Greenwood, who remains suspended by the club.

Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen have been deemed too expensive, while links to Dusan Vlahovic have gone cold.

United are, however, pressing ahead with plans to recruit Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side Atalanta.

Few had heard of the Denmark international 12 months ago when he moved to Italy from Sturm Graz.

But Hojlund sparkled for Atalanta last term, scoring nine goals across all competitions.

With six goals from four matches for Denmark amid their quest to qualify for next year’s European Championships, Hojlund is now considered one of the best young forwards in world football.

Atalanta insist they’ll only let the 20-year-old go if they receive a huge offer.

But United, emboldened by Hojlund’s desire to join, are pressing ahead with plans regardless.

In the background, waiting for the green light to take over, is Sheikh Jassim.

The Qatari billionaire has no involvement in the club at present, with the Glazers signing off on transfers for the time being.

But with Sheikh Jassim in pole position to buy United, it’s possible more additions will be made before he has a chance to get to work.
