Man Utd must win Eduardo Camavinga transfer battle to save themselves £75m in fees

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to sign Eduardo Camavinga this summer from Rennes. However, the Red Devils are not the only ones with Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also keen on a transfer.

United must win their battle to sign Camavinga this summer or face paying huge amount in fees to sign an alternative.

It comes as the Red Devils ramp up their interest in the Rennes wonderkid following their agreement to land Jadon Sancho.

Solskjaer means business this summer after a tough transfer window in 2020 and is looking to secure his top targets as soon as possible.

That includes a midfielder and a defender, with the arrival of Sancho set to tick the winger box.

Camavinga has been eyed as an ideal target with one year left on his Rennes contract and a stricken TV deal compounding the club’s financial misery, along with the Covid crisis.

It points to a summer sale, which could cost United as little as £25m.

The 18-year-old has been tipped as a huge star of the future but the relatively cheap price has attracted plenty of suitors.

Chelsea have reportedly made contact with his agent Jonathan Barnett, while Real Madrid and PSG are also strongly linked.

It means the Red Devils have a battle on their hands to land the highly-rated teenager.

And signing him now could save them millions down the line later – with plenty of other expensive options on the horizon.

If they miss out on the signing of Camavinga, it will mean United will have to move onto Declan Rice – who has been priced at £100m.

West Ham are not budging on their valuation, either, and would be a massive £75m more expensive than Camavinga.

The other option would be Jude Bellingham, who Borussia Dortmund are in the process of agreeing a new contract that would take his value past the nine-figure sum as well.

It means Solskjaer cannot afford to miss out on the signing of Camavinga, with plenty of other players being eyed this summer at Old Trafford too.

United are already set to fork out £73m on Sancho with negotiations ongoing over Raphael Varane – who will not come cheap.
