Man Utd new boy Casemiro humiliated after audacious nutmeg

Manchester United new boy Casemiro was humiliated on his first start for the club after being nutmegged by Real Sociedad left-back Aihen Munoz in the Europa League. The Red Devils signed Casemiro from Real Madrid this summer after shelling out a whopping £70million to lure him away from the Bernabeu Stadium.

United appointed Erik ten Hag as their new manager earlier this year, with the Dutchman tasked to restore the club to their former glory. The Red Devils, who won 13 Premier League titles under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, suffered a dismal campaign last time around and exited the cup competitions in the early rounds before finishing sixth in the Premier League.

Ten Hag made six signings during the summer transfer window as he looked to put together a squad that could compete for honours in the Premier League and Europe, with Casemiro becoming his fifth addition last month.

The midfielder made 336 appearances for Real during a nine-year spell in Spain and was seen as a player who could come in and force his way above Scott McTominay and Fred in Ten Hag’s pecking order.

United had to settle for a place in Europe’s second tier competition after failing to muster a top-four Premier League finish last season. And Ten Hag could well harbour aspirations to get his hands on the trophy during his maiden season at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag’s United tenure had begun in dismal fashion as his side lost 2-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the season, before being thumped 4-0 by Brentford in west London. But the Red Devils have since enjoyed an upturn in fortunes after winning four Premier League matches on the bounce to climb to fifth in the table.
