Man Utd recommended rogue Thomas Partey transfer to solve Casemiro problem

Arsenal are expected to soon confirm the signing of West Ham United captain Declan Rice in a club-record £105m deal.

And with Granit Xhaka already out the door at the Emirates Stadium, Partey has been linked with following him.

United are said to be eyeing a pursuit of Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat after Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

But Yorke has tipped Partey as an enticing option if Arteta doesn’t change his formation to accommodate the Ghanian and Rice.

He told BoyleSports: “Thomas Partey wouldn’t be a bad signing for Man United. But it depends on whether Mikel Arteta changes his formation to 4-2-3-1, where he has two defensive midfielders where both Declan Rice and Partey can play together.

“Having a player like Partey makes Man United or Arsenal more adaptable because they can play different positions with his qualities.

“So Arteta might figure a way out to play both Rice and Partey. The competition is healthy for the squad, you need players competing with each other every day in training, and it builds a hunger in the team.”

Casemiro helped revolutionise United’s midfield after his £70m switch from Real Madrid last summer but spent periods sidelined in his first season through suspension.

The Brazilian also turned 31 earlier this year and may not be capable of performing at the highest level every week for much longer.

Yorke also praised Brighton and Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo, suggesting United should alternatively look to seal his signature.

“Moises Caicedo is a damn good player and had a great season for Brighton,” the Old Trafford icon explained.

“It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Man United sign him because he plays in a position that we need more depth in.

“You see the change in quality when Casemiro comes out of the team due to suspension or injury. We don’t look the same.

“Caicedo would give that energy in the midfield, he’s very functional in the directiveness of his play, and he’s also aggressive and a great tackler. I’m not surprised to see Chelsea are in for him too.”
