Man Utd takeover – The Glazers tell Erik ten Hag when he’ll get clarity

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will reportedly be given clarity over the future of the club following Saturday’s FA Cup final. The Dutchman took charge at Old Trafford a year ago and has guided his team to a cup final showdown with Manchester City during his first season at the helm.

The Red Devils have been the subject of a number of bids after the Glazer family owners put the club on the market last autumn. And, according to The Mirror, Ten Hag has been told that he will be given a clearer picture over the coming days of whether the American family intend to sell-up or stay in charge.

United’s co-owner Avram Glazer is set to watch the Red Devils take on the Citizens in Saturday’s final at Wembley. And although it is unclear how long his visit to the UK will last, the 62-year-old will at least divulge his plans to Ten Hag.

Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are currently vying to complete a takeover of United. Ratcliffe’s offer would allow Avram and Joel Glazer to retain their stakes in the club, while Sheikh Jassim’s bid would remove the whole family from the picture. But neither suitor has met the Glazers’ £6billion valuation and, with the sale dragging on, it is casting a shadow over the north west giants.

Ten Hag is desperate to step-up his summer transfer plans and has set his sights on landing Harry Kane from Tottenham, as well as a midfielder, centre-back and goalkeeper. He also wants to get his hands on Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount but feels the Blues are valuing the ace too highly at £80million.

United have enjoyed an improved season under Ten Hag following a dismal campaign last time around and will be playing Champions League football once again next season after securing a third-place finish in the Premier League.

The Red Devils booked their place in the FA Cup final after getting the better of Brighton in the semi-finals following a penalty shootout. Ten Hag’s team also beat Fulham, West Ham, Reading and Everton on the way to securing their place in the showpiece event.

City, meanwhile, saw off Sheffield United in the last four, after previously knocking out Burnley, Bristol City, Arsenal and Chelsea. The Citizens, who have already lifted this season’s Premier League trophy, will be looking to complete the second part of a famous treble at Wembley ahead of their Champions League final showdown with Inter Milan next Saturday.
