Man Utd’s Benni McCarthy bids farewell to star, Amrabat agreement, Maguire delay

Manchester United appear to be nearing the end of their transfer business before they kick off their Premier League campaign against Wolves on Monday in what would be a welcome change for Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils have already spent around £179million on three signings and with one or two new arrivals in the pipeline, the Dutchman will be satisfied with how their summer has gone so far.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have been snapped up by the Red Devils, with all three improving the spine of Ten Hag’s team, with Mount and Onana set to face Wolves on Monday while Hojlund recovers from injury.

But squad additions will be required before the end of the month if United are to keep apace with the Premier League’s top sides as Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal search for new reinforcements in the final weeks of the window.

United know they need to sell off some of their fringe players first to raise funds after their hopes of completing a takeover with Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe were effectively dashed by the Glazers, and they could still decide to use the next two and a half weeks to further improve their squad with a centre-back and midfielder still wanted.
