Man Utd’s four Erling Haaland alternatives including Arsenal transfer target after snub

Manchester United will have to look elsewhere in their search for a striker after Erling Haaland’s latest transfer decision. The Borussia Dortmund star has his sights set on a move to Spain with Real Madrid and Barcelona the favourites to land his signature.

United could turn to four different strikers this summer as they look set to miss out on Haaland in the transfer window.

The Norway international is hot property after another sensational season in front of goal for Borussia Dortmund.

The 21-year-old has scored 19 times in just 16 appearances, taking his grand total for the German club to 76 goals in 75 matches.

Across his time at Dortmund and RB Salzburg, the striker has netted 23 times in 19 appearances in the Champions League and this has alerted some of the biggest clubs in the world.

However, according to the Daily Star, Haaland only has his sights set on La Liga with Barcelona and Real Madrid the two clubs he could join.

So who could United move for instead?

Dusan Vlahovic

What do you do when you miss out on the 21-year-old hotshot everyone is talking about? Go after the next 21-year-old hotshot everyone is talking about.

Vlahovic has been in mesmerising form for Fiorentina this season after scoring 18 goals in all competitions this season, just one short of Haaland’s total.

A sale is on the cards this summer with the striker informing his club that he has no intention of renewing his contract – which expires in 18 months.

Arsenal are desperate to sign the youngster but United could offer more in wages, while also leaving a telling blow on the Gunners.

Lautaro Martinez

Inter Milan would be hard pressed to lose Romelu Lukaku and Martinez within a year of each other but United could still make a move for the Argentine.

Barcelona had been desperate for his services but could not muster the funds while Haaland has now entered their mindset, leaving the door open.

In the absence of Lukaku, Martinez has stepped up his goalscoring duties in Serie A and already has 11 this campaign – he had 17 in the entire domestic season last year as Inter won the league.

And at 24, the forward has plenty of years in the tank with the best yet to come.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

If United wanted to look a little closer to home there might be no better option than Dominic Calvert-Lewin – another Arsenal target.

The Everton striker has been hounded by injuries this season which has restricted him to just four appearances in the Premier League.

Yet that has not stopped him from getting on the scoresheet, netting three times, and the 24-year-old might be the answer to United’s problems.

Strong and athletic with a lethal touch, Calvert-Lewin could explode into goalscoring form with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo to play with.

Harry Kane

It might seem impossible but with United’s money and power, they could go all out and get the main man Kane – who has long been a target at Old Trafford.

The reluctance to do business on Tottenham’s behalf has prevented enquiries from going any further but another year without trophies might convince the 28-year-old to finally pack his bags at his boyhood club.

Manchester City would be at the front of the queue should Kane leave but United could shoehorn themselves into the conversation.

Before the signing of Ronaldo, the England international was high on the shortlist at Old Trafford but they could revisit that in light of the Haaland news.
