Mandalorian Season 3: Dave Filoni and Rick Famuyiwa Answer the Cara Dune Question as Jon Favreau Shared an Update on Ahsoka

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 Chapter 17 came out yesterday on March 1, 2023 and fans could not be happier. They finally got to reunite with their beloved characters Din Djarin played by Pedro Pascal and Grogu. The cast and creative team put up a special launch event in order to commemorate the start of season 3, and it looked liked a lot of fun.

One burning question that has been on fans’ minds is how the series is going to deal with Gina Carano’s Cara Dune after the departure of the actor from the show. Her portrayal of Cara Dune’s character was well received by fans. However, she was fired from the show due to her controversial post on social media last year, which mentioned Jewish people and the Holocaust.

Gina Carano was last seen in the show during the season 2 finale. She had partnered up with Djarin in their mission to rescue Grogu from the Imperials. Through an interview with Deadline, Rick Famuyiwa and Dave Filoni, the directors on the show, revealed how they will deal with Cara Dune’s character in the upcoming season.

Famuyiwa stated that Cara is an integral part of the series as well as the world of The Mandalorian and the departure of the actor was addressed during the creative development. However, the team also realised at the same time that Din Djarin and Grogue are the “heart of the show” and therefore they felt the story should move towards “servicing of that” and The Mandalorians.

Filoni added that the story takes place in a “big galaxy” with a bunch of characters in it who are “fighting for their screen time”. The team will see how season 3 of The Mandalorian will unravel and what journeys await them. Also, he spoke about Cara Dune’s character being a beloved one and also “vital to Din Djarin’s beginnings”.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni provide updates on Ahsoka Season 1

In a recent interview with Screenrant, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau talked about The Mandalorian as well as the upcoming Star Wars show, Ahsoka. Right off the bat, Favreau provides a huge update on Ahsoka, stating that a whole show on the character is on the horizon. He adds that Filoni is done with filming of the show and now post-production with visual effects and music is ongoing.

Moreover, Favreau spoke about how other stories such as Skeleton Crew and The Book of Boba Fett will overlap with Ahsoka, stating Ahsoka is an integral part of the time period. He stated that the overlapping will be “ever-evolving” and at the moment, the writers are working on “strong stories” which are being developed “concurrently within that world”.
