Mane ‘punched’ Bayern team-mate Sane in bust-up after Man City defeat
Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane reportedly punched his team-mate, Leroy Sane, in the face after the German giants’ Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night. Ex-Liverpool forward Mane is thought to have taken issue with the way the German spoke to him during what turned out to be a miserable match for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Emotions ran high this week as Man City boss Pep Guardiola faced his former club Bayern, Sane returned to the Etihad and Mane attempted to kick-start his career with the German giants by putting his former foes to the sword.
The visitors ultimately left frustrated, however, as goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland gave Bayern boss Tuchel with a mountain to climb ahead of next week’s second leg.
And tensions eventually boiled over in the Bayern ranks. Sane gave Mane an earful during the game, prompting the latter to complain about his rant after the final whistle and punch him on the lip, according to Bild.
Sane was selected to start by Tuchel and put in a strong performance, despite the result, with City goalkeeper Ederson put to the test. Mane, meanwhile, had to make do with a spot on the bench and was only introduced with just over 20 minutes to play.
The pair’s argument supposedly started after Mane made a run in behind instead of offering to come short, which prompted the pumped-up former City star to make his feelings known. A loud discussion is thought to have followed in the dressing room after the game.
Bayern star were then supposedly forced to separate the two team-mates after Mane lashed out, which allegedly left a mark on Sane’s face. The Bavarian giants are yet to comment on the altercation.
