Martin Odegaard to Arsenal ‘agreed’ with star undergoing medical for £30m move
Arsenal have agreed a £30million fee with Real Madrid to bring Martin Odegaard to the Emirates Stadium on a permanent basis, according to reports. The 22-year-old is said to have been in London on Wednesday to thrash out the formalities of his impending move and undergo a medical.
Odegaard has already settled on personal terms with Arsenal and could feature against Chelsea on Sunday if he is registered by noon on Friday, according to Sky Sports.
He excelled under Mikel Arteta’s guidance during his loan spell over the second half of last season and has been the Spaniard’s priority target since the beginning of the summer window.
The Arsenal boss made it clear from the outset that a move for Odegaard would be at the top of his agenda before this month’s transfer deadline.
The midfielder was involved for Real Madrid in pre-season upon his return to the Spanish capital, suggesting that Carlo Ancelotti may have been prepared to offer him a first-team berth at the club.
However, his future now appears to lie with Arsenal, who are expected to rubber-stamp his return over the coming days.
