Max Verstappen opens his own shop as star eyes legacy career after F1

Max Verstappen has opened a new, official pop-up store in the Netherlands for fans to buy the Red Bull star’s merchandise. The two-time world champion now has three stores open to the public, in a hint at where his future could lie post-retirement.

Fans are able to buy official merchandise and can see authentic items worn by Verstappen, including his helmet. The new store has opened in Roermond, adding to shops based in Swalmen and Batavia Stad.

“The support from my fans from all over the world has always been amazing,” Verstappen said of the announcement. “It’s great fans from The Netherlands, but also Germany and Belgium, can now go to Roermond to admire a few, for me very important, race-items.”

Nico De Jong, CEO of Verstappen.com, added: “We are very enthusiastic and curious to see the shoppers’ reactions. We offer a selected range of last season’s merchandise at very sharp prices in the Max Verstappen pop-up shop in Designer Outlet Roermond. This is an exciting adventure with so many international visitors in Roermond.”

There remains uncertainty over Verstappen’s long-term future in Formula One, and the new shop suggests that his interest could lie in business. Earlier this year, the 25-year-old signed a new contract with Red Bull until 2028 but hinted that he might bow out of the sport come the end of the deal.

Verstappen then suggested he could quit F1 if bosses continued to pack the schedule. He said: “I hope there won’t be too many changes, otherwise I won’t be around for too long.

“We are heading into seasons where we could have 24 or 25 races and if you then start adding more it is not worth it for me. I will not enjoy that.”

Verstappen is on course for a third-consecutive world title. He has won three of the five races this season, with team-mate Sergio Perez winning the other two. After triumphing at last weekend’s Miami Grand Prix, he said: “It was a good race. I stayed out of trouble at the beginning and then just had a clean race, picked the cars off one by one.

“Then I could stay out really long on the hard tyres and that’s where I think we made the difference today. I had a good little battle with [Perez] at the end. We kept it clean and that’s the most important [thing] – it’s a great win today.

“Yesterday was of course a bit of a setback. Today we just kept it calm, kept it clean, and for sure, winning a race from P9 is always very satisfying.”
