Max Verstappen third and Lewis Hamilton 13th as every F1 driver’s crash costs revealed

But in the meantime, Sky Germany have compiled an alternative table for F1 drivers, and in this instance there is no doubt about the winner.

They have compiled how much each driver cost their team in crashes, and whilst Verstappen was up there in third following his much-publicised collisions with Hamilton at both Silverstone and Monza, Haas driver Mick Schumacher came out on top.

Haas cost his team £3,589,170, taking the unwanted title from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who racked up bills of £3,447,583.

Verstappen followed behind, having cost Christian Horner and co a total £3,313,804 – a sum it’s safe to assume was more than reimbursed by his eventual title triumph.

Williams driver Nicholas Latifi (£2,655,559) finished fourth, although arguably, his crash in Abu Dhabi will linger far longer in the memory of F1 fans than any incident attributed to the other 19 drivers.

Valtteri Bottas, who lhas now left Mercedes for Alfa Romeo, was fifth having racked up £2,312,017 worth of damage.

Lance Stroll (£2,288,259), Yuki Tsunoda (£2,220,531), Nikita Mazepin (£2,102,540), Kimi Raikkonen (£1,661,005) and George Russell (£1,571,566) made up the top ten.

Hamilton meanwhile, ended up in 13th, having cost the ‘Silver Arrows’ around £1,051,938.
