In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Tetris, McDonald’s locations in China are releasing a new Chicken McNugget-shaped handheld gaming device with the hit puzzle game installed.
The device costs around 30 yuan, which is equal to $4.24, and is only available for a limited time. It seems as if customers can add the device to an eligible order, rather than being able to purchase it outright from select locations. The device also includes a carrying case shaped like a Chicken McNugget box, along with some fancy art as well. A rudimentary version of Tetris is pre-installed on the device, reminiscent of gaming’s earlier days, so don’t expect a mindblowing gaming experience on the McDonald’s handheld.
According to Eurogamer, there will only be 400,000 of these available, meaning they will likely be hard to find. It’s unclear if the Tetris Chicken McNugget device will come to other territories, but if not, consumers may need to head to eBay to get their hands on one.
Tetris first launched in 1984 and eventually became one of the best-selling and most popular gaming franchises of all time. It has spawned numerous iterations, including the critically acclaimed Tetris Effect, along with a feature-length film aptly titled Tetris.
