MCU: Jonathan Majors Forced Changes to Phase 5 and Phase 6 with his Portrayal of Kang

Everybody now knows that after Thanos, the next big enemy that the MCU superheroes will be teaming up against is Kang the Conqueror. Jonathan Majors from Creed III has played the role of this iconic villain on two instances – Disney+’s Loki series and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Fans have adored Major’s portrayal of these characters. However, it seems as though the actor’s performance was stronger than we initially thought, as it reportedly was responsible for the change of plans regarding Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU.

This information comes to us through Joanna Robinson, the writer for MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios book, who appeared on The Ringer’s The Big Picture podcast (via Screen Rant)

Robinson stated that Kang was originally never going to be “the center of everything”. However, after experiencing Majors’ performance in Loki and Quantumania, the team thought that “this is our way forward”. Robinson added that the MCU is not known for putting all their eggs in one basket. However, they have now that with Majors’ Kang.

However, the problem now lies with Majors’ run-in with the law, which led to the recent arrest of the MCU villain on grounds of alleged assault. At the moment, there aren’t any plans to replace the actor. We also don’t know what the MCU has in store for him, and fans will just have to wait and see how Kang the Conqueror influences the next MCU phases.
