Megan Thee Stallion And Master Chief Collab At TwitchCon Concert Was Not Paid For By Microsoft

Master Chief was seen getting down on stage with rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a concert at TwitchCon 2022, and even though it wasn’t an official Xbox-sanctioned appearance, videos of Spartan-117 dancing have taken social media by storm.

Halo partnerships and lifestyle lead Katie Jerauld posted on Twitter over the weekend to say Microsoft and Xbox had “nothing to do with it” but called Master Chief’s appearance at the concert “amazing though.”

Master Chief was, in fact, just a cosplaying fan in the crowd who caught Megan Thee Stallion’s eye. Video of the concert shows her beckoning the cosplayer on stage, to the roaring approval of the crowd. Things continued to heat up from there, with Master Chief dancing and shuffling side-to-side behind Megan Thee Stallion on stage while she performed her set. She later tweeted out images of the cosplayer on stage, which were then retweeted by the official Halo Twitter account.

It’s far from the first time Megan Thee Stallion has embraced pop culture during a performance. She recently wore a Sailor Moon-inspired outfit while touring in Japan, and in 2019 she once cosplayed as the fire-and-ice powered Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia for a magazine cover shoot. Most recently, she appeared as herself in Marvel’s She-Hulk TV series.

Megan Thee Stallion headlined TwitchCon’s 2022 concert at Petco Park in San Diego, which also featured Kim Petras, DJ Lani Love, and others. It was the first in-person TwitchCon since 2019. Unfortunately, Master Chief making a surprise concert appearance wasn’t the only news to come out of TwitchCon. Multiple TwitchCon attendees reported injuries after jumping into a shallow foam pit at the convention, with one streamer reportedly breaking her back.

As for Master Chief, the iconic hero of Xbox’s shooter franchise will return in season 2 of the Halo television series on Paramount+, which recently started filming. A major winter update for Halo Infinite, the most recent game in the series, is slated to arrive in November.
