Mercedes kick-started 2023 with its first product just a week in. We are talking about the Mercedes AMG E 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet which fetches a price tag of INR 1.30 crore (all-India ex-showroom). It is the fourth 53-badged car and the first cabriolet in the AMG series with a top speed of 250kph. Arriving as a CBU unit, the 53-badged cabriolet joins the wagon with the existing EQS sedan, E 53 sedan, and GLE 53 coupe-SUV.

The AMG E 53 4Matric+ Cabriolet looks strikingly similar to any other AMG lineup. It dons a signature AMG Panamericana grille with sporty front jumpers. A subtle belt line passed through its side profile. 19-inch alloy wheels come as a standard on the India-focused model with five color options to choose from – Designo Opalite – White Bright, Blue Magno, and Red Bright; along with Selenite and Obsidian Black.

The Cabriolet follows a sporty-looking drop-top silhouette with a two-door layout and a chrome strip that you can find on top of the door.

On the interior, you will meet a twin-screen set-up for the instrument cluster used onboard the dashboard with the infotainment screen. There’s a high-customized leather-wrapped five-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel on the cabriolet. The AMG has gone a Burmester premium surround sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, and an AIRCAP wind-stop system that prevents wind noise bleeding at high speed among others.

Mercedes AMG E 53 4Matric+ offers a host of safety features to go with. It includes seven airbags, an Active Distance Assist Distronic feature, an aluminum and high-strength steel body, a pop-up roller bar, an Attention Assist feature, and ABS to name a few. On top, has received five-star rating on Euro NCAP certification making it one of the tough nuts to crack

Mercedes AMG E 53 4Matric+ Powertrain & Performance

The AMG E 53 4Matric+ arrived with a 3.0 six-cylinder T6 twin-scroll liter turbocharged petrol engine capable of producing a whopping 435hp and 520Nm torque respectively. It has a displacement of 2999cc. It has an integrated starter generator that adds another 21hp and 250Nm of torque on top for added adrenaline. It also generates 320Kw plus 16kW of power as a result.

The powertrain is capable of zooming the -speed auto transmission from 0 to 100kph in 4.6sec with all four-wheel drives engaged. Mercedes has added an electronically limited top speed of 250kph on this one.

On the braking side, we have a four-piston fixed caliper at the front with a single-poston floating caliper at the rear to stop the beast right away. Finally, the AMG cabriolet has a kerb weight of 2055 kg.
