Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reacts to Apple’s Vision Pro. Here’s what he said…

Apple recently introduced Vision Pro, its highly anticipated augmented reality headset, at WWDC 2023 on Monday. Given the official launch of Vision Pro, it is natural to speculate on Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s perspective regarding the new competition posed by Apple’s VR headset.

During an all-hands meeting observed by The Verge, Zuckerberg discussed his response to the technical features of Vision Pro. He mentioned that the pricing of the headset was a result of a deliberate “design trade-off” aimed at emphasizing more expensive technology and demanding increased computational capabilities.

“I’d say the good news is that there’s no kind of magical solutions that they have to any of the constraints on laws and physics that our teams haven’t already explored and thought of,” stated Zuckerberg.

Continuing his address, the CEO of Meta delved into the divergent philosophical perspectives held by Apple and Meta, highlighting the disparities in their values and overall mission. This discussion naturally led Zuckerberg to explore the concept of the metaverse, which interestingly did not receive any mention during the WWDC keynote presentation.

“Our vision for the metaverse and presence is fundamentally social. It’s about people interacting in new ways and feeling closer in new ways. Our device is also about being active and doing things. By contrast, every demo that they showed was a person sitting on a couch by themself,” added the Meta CEO.

According to Zuckerberg, the Meta Quest serves as a means to construct virtual communities and promote engagement, while Apple’s Vision Pro is perceived as a device for solitary use. This perspective offers an intriguing viewpoint.

In contrast to the Meta Quest and Meta Quest Pro, the Vision Pro from Apple utilizes eye movements and hand gestures for control, eliminating the need for controllers. Additionally, it boasts a translucent display and a lighter design. However, the incorporation of such advanced technology results in a higher price tag. The Vision Pro starts at $3,500, whereas the Meta Quest Pro, which is Meta’s most expensive headset, begins at $1,000.
