Metacritic Rankings: Sony Dubbed as the Publisher of the Year as Remakes and Remasters Become Highest Rated Titles of 2023

Metacritic recently released its 13th Annual Game Publisher Rankings, which consists of the performances recorded by video game publishers in 2022. In the rankings, Sony came first with an average Metascore of 85.6 points. Moreover, Sony recorded 0% Bad Games, 100% Good Games and 2 Great Games netting them 100, 100 and 10 points for each respectively. The Japanese gaming giants ended up with a total score of 338.4.

Remakes and Remasters top Metacritic’s Best Video Games for 2023 List

On the topic of Metacritic, the popular aggregator has also released a list featuring the best games of 2023. As spotted by Kotaku, players will notice that remakes and remasters of past games have completely dominated the list. Barring Xbox’s Hi-Fi Rush, coming in at number 9, there is no other new title that released in 2023 in Metacritic’s Best video games for 2023 list.
