Mexican boxer Alvarez threatens Lionel Messi over dressing room celebration video | Football News – Times of India

Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez on Monday threatened Argentina superstar Lionel Messi over his dressing room celebration after beating Mexico in the FIFA World Cup Group C match in Qatar.
Alvarez took offense at the celebration video which showed the Argentine forward pushing away a Mexican jersey with his foot.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward scored a brilliant opening goal to set Argentina on their way to a crucial 2-0 win after losing their first match 1-2 to Saudi Arabia.

“Have you seen Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag?” Alvarez, who has 2.2 million followers, posted on Twitter.
“He should ask to God that I don’t find him!” Alvarez added in another Tweet accompanied by two fist emojis, an enraged red face and a flame.

Messi was taking his right shoe off when he — apparently without intention — moved the Mexico shirt which he had exchanged with a Mexican player after Argentina’s 2-0 win. The shirt was on the floor as the Argentines celebrated in the locker room.

Former Argentina forward Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero came out on Messi’s defense.
“Mr. Canelo, don’t go finding excuses or creating trouble, certainly you don’t know soccer or what happens in a locker room,” he said on Twitter. “The shirts are always on the floor after a match as they are sweaty.”
Former Spain player Cesc Fabregas also defended Messi, saying it’s normal for players to leave the shirts on the floor before they can be taken to be wash
Mexico must win their final Group C match against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to have any chance of reaching the last 16. Argentina must beat Poland to be sure of a place in the knock-out stages, though a draw would be enough if Mexico and Saudi Arabia also draw.
