Michigan, Ohio State get into halftime scuffle in tunnel at Michigan Stadium

Michigan hasn’t beaten Ohio State in nine years, but the rivalry between the Wolverines and Buckeyes is still alive and well in the tunnels of Michigan Stadium.

Video surfaced on Saturday of a shouting match between the two teams as they headed to their respective locker rooms for halftime; Michigan, which held a narrow 14-13 lead after two quarters, appeared to be the instigator.

Here’s one angle of the brief scuffle. In it, Ohio State senior defensive end Tyreke Smith and who appears to be junior offensive lineman Dawand Jones can be seen flipping middle fingers at the Michigan team. Some unseen Wolverines can also be seen reciprocating the action:

Another video of the incident — taken by “College GameDay” analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit — shows the Wolverines were yelling at the Buckeyes as they headed to their locker room. An unnamed person can also be heard saying, “Keep that s—t up” toward Michigan:

That wasn’t the only incident to take place between the two teams, either. Freshman running back Cayden Saunders was also called for unsportsmanlike conduct in the third quarter after he was seen ripping off Michigan receiver Roman Wilson’s helmet.

Following that play, Michigan took a 28-13 lead over the second-ranked Buckeyes, placing them in prime position to earn their first victory in “The Game” since 2011. It would also be Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh’s first victory since he took the team over in 2015.
