Microsoft Accuses Sony of Misleading EU Regulator

Microsoft has accused Sony of giving false information to the European Union regulator. It alleges that the information which was falsified is about the company’s commitment to keeping the Call of Duty video game series on PlayStation.

Microsoft’s chief communications officer, Frank X. Shaw, spoke out against the false information in a series of tweets. He said that Microsoft has offered Sony a ten-year deal. This will give it equal treatment on the timing, content, quality and other aspects of the Call of Duty game. Shaw added that Microsoft wants to bring Call of Duty and other games to more people around the world, so they can play where and how they want.

Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard has several roadblocks in the way. Sony and regulators in Europe, the United States, and the UK have opposed the merger. The EU is expected to issue a charge sheet against Microsoft, which will highlight what concerns it has with the company about the acquisition.

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) also recently filed a lawsuit against Microsoft in an attempt to block the acquisition. The FTC stated that Microsoft will become powerful enough to suppress competitors. Microsoft recently summoned Sony in its defence against the lawsuit.
