Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella received the country’s third-highest civilian award Padma Bhushan. Nadella received the ward from India’s Consul General in San Francisco, Dr. TV Nagendra Prasad. “It’s an honor to receive a Padma Bhushan Award and to be recognized by so many extraordinary people. I’m thankful to the President, Prime Minister, and people of India, and look forward to continuing to work with people across India to help them use technology to achieve more,” said Nadella after getting the award. Nadella also thanked Prime Minister Naredra Modi and the people of India for the award. Nadella was conferred with the Padma Bhushan by the government on occasion of India’s 73rd Republic Day. Nadella was named one of 17 awardees earlier this year. Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai too was conferred with the award.

“We are living in a period of historic economic, societal and technological change,” said Nadella following his meeting with Dr. Prasad.

Nadella said that he plans to visit India in January, 2023. The Microsoft CEO’s last trip to India was almost three years ago.
