A new report by Windows Central (the link has been removed now) reported that Microsoft is removing the Xbox Live Gold subscription service. Along with this, the company is also expected to kill the Xbox Live branding on the titles forever which was first introduced with Xbox 260 back in 2013.

As per the reports, Microsoft is planning to replace the Xbox Live Gold with a new subscription likely to be called Xbox Game Pass Core. The new change is expected to come into effect from September 1 onwards.

Microsoft Game Pass Core pricing has also been leaked. As per some reports, the Xbox Game Pass Core will cost $9.99 per month or $59.99 yearly to users.

Microsoft hasn’t announced the benefits that will be included with the unannounced Xbox Game Pass Core subscription. But, it is expected that subscribers will get deals and discounts on games. Along with that, it is also reported to also offer around 25 Game Pass titles including Online: Tamriel Unlimited. More titles will be added soon.
What will happen to Live Gold subscribers?
The report mentions that Microsoft will automatically move Xbox Live Gold subscribers to Game Pass Core. The games acquired by them will remain in their profile and they won’t be affected by this change.
Do note that Microsoft hasn’t officially announced the new Game Pass Core update yet. But, it is expected that we will see something official in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Sony and Microsoft have signed deals for Call of Duty games on PlayStation. As per the deal, PlayStation consoles will continue to get Call of Duty titles for the coming 10 years.
