Microsoft recently updated several of its bundled apps for Windows 11 OS. These include Paint, Notepad and Clock.According to an XDA Developers report, the tech giant is now working on a new design for its Voice Recorder app. The app will feature a new design that is said to be more in line with the latest Windows 11 OS. It is also likely to get a new name, Sound Recorder. Earlier, there were reports about Microsoft planning to release an Xbox streaming stick by 2023.
New changes for the Sound Recorder app for Windows 11
The new voice recorder aims to change the user experience with an updated overall aesthetic that uses the Mica material. Users will be able to see visualisation of the audio levels while playing a recording. These audio level markings will fill up the empty spaces which were present in the previous version of the app and it will also make it easier for users to find specific points in a recording.
The new version of the app will also allow the users to change the recording device directly within the app. Currently, the Voice Recorder app uses the default microphone set by Windows itself. The new Sound Recorder aims to offer users more flexibility. Apart from this, Microsoft will also allow users to change their preferred file format for recordings.
The new app will also not include a command bar at the bottom as some of the options and controls have been moved around. The Share button on the updated version will be placed near the top of the window, however, the option to add a marker to a recording will be available at the bottom. The new Sound Recorder will offer users the ability to import files into the app, the current version shows only the files generated on their own.
Users who can use the new Sound Recorder app right now
At present, only users enrolled into the Windows Insider programme in the Dev channel can use the Sound Recorder app. Other users need to check for updates in the Microsoft Store to get it or will have to wait for it to update automatically. The new app is expected to be rolled out for other channels in the upcoming weeks.
