Microsoft rolls out new Outlook for Windows to all Office testers – Times of India

Microsoft started working on a new design for Outlook on Windows in May when the company released a semi-public beta version of the app for some Office testers. Now, the company has announced that the new version of Outlook for Windows will be available for all Office testers. Outlook’s latest desktop client will be very much similar to the web version of the platform. Microsoft executive, Margie Clinton, who is the group product manager of the Outlook team has mentioned that the team “has been working diligently to improve the new Outlook for Windows.”
New Outlook for Windows: Availability
The company notes that the new app will available be on the Current Channel Preview for all Office Insiders. Microsoft has also announced that the same experience will also be expanded to the Windows Insiders using a similar toggle within the Windows Mail app.

How the new Outlook for Windows has improved
The new Outlook for Windows has added something important that was missing in the early beta. Outlook’s Windows app will also support personal email accounts from Outlook.com, Hotmail and Windows Live.
The company has also added a simple Ribbon to enhance the interface and has even added dynamic calendar column widths to offer users more customisable options. Outlook’s new Windows app offers an improved UI and design but it still needs to add some more features to be at par with the web version.
Microsoft has also claimed that the new Outlook for Windows app will also support multiple email accounts (within the same app) in the upcoming days. The company is also planning to add support for third-party email accounts like — Gmail, Yahoo and iCloud.

The new version is also expected to get upgraded with offline support, folder searching, native ICS support, support for web add-ins and more options for visual updates and customisation in the upcoming days.
