Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 with 12th generation Intel Evo processor launched: Price, specifications and more – Times of India

Microsoft has refreshed its Surface laptop and took the wraps off the all-new Surface Laptop 5. The laptop is powered by 12th generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors and offers support for connectivity options, including Thunderbolt 4 as well as Wi-Fi 6. The machine also gets cinematic sound and enhanced camera experiences and it runs Windows 11.
Surface Laptop 5 price, availability
Surface Laptop 5 will be available in 13.5-inch and 15-inch display sizes. Customers can configure the laptop as per their requirements. The 13.5-inch display variant starts at $999 (approximately Rs 82,000) and the 15-inch display option has a price tag of $1,299 (approximately Rs 107,000).
Surface Laptop 5 can be pre-ordered now and customers can purchase the laptops from October 25 in select countries in Platinum, Matte Black, Sandstone, and new Sage colour options.

Surface Laptop 5 specifications
Both the 13.5-inch and 15-inch models get an aluminium casing. While the Platinum colour option comes with an Alcantara material palm rest, others get a metal palm rest. In the case of the 15-inch model, all colour variants get metal palm rest.
The 13.5-inch variant features the PixelSense display with 2256×1504 pixels resolution, 201ppi pixel density and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The display gets Dolby Vision IQ support, 10-point multi-touch support and Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the variant with an Alcantara keyboard finish. The options with metal finish get Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The 15-inch model gets a PixelSense display that has a 2496×1664 pixel resolution. The rest of the features remain the same as the 13.5-inch model except that all variants get the Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Under the hood, the Surface Laptop 5 (13.5-inch) will have two processor options: a 12th-generation Intel Core i5-1235U and 12th-generation Intel Core i7-1255U. The Surface Laptop 5 (15-inch) will be powered by a 12th-generation Intel Core i7-1255U processor. The chipsets are built on the Intel Evo platforms. The laptops can be configured with either one of 8GB/16GB/32GB of LPDDR5x RAM along with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSD options.
The 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 5 is claimed to offer up to 18 hours of battery life and the 15-inch model is claimed to run for up to 17 hours. Other features of the newly-launched Surface Laptop 5 include Firmware TPM 2.0 security processor, Windows Hello face sign-in, HD (720p) camera, Omnisonic Speakers with Dolby Atmos 4, and dual far-field Studio microphones. Connectivity options on Surface Laptop 5 include USB-C (with USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4), USB-A 3.1, 3.5mm headphone jack, Surface Connect port, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.
