Microsoft Teams is adding this important meeting feature – Times of India

Microsoft is set to make its video-conferencing platform even more interactive with a new addition to the service. According to a new report by TechRadar, the company has updated the official Microsoft 365 roadmap with the latest entry that shows a new feature, which is under development and will soon be introduced to Microsoft Teams users. The company has revealed that it is working on adding Question and Answer capabilities (also known as Q&A) to Microsoft Teams’ webinars and meetings. As per the report, the new addition is expected to bring “a whole new level of interactivity and collaboration to Microsoft Teams calls.” Moreover, this feature can be used in any situation that includes — a company-wide meeting, a university lecture, or just
catching up with some friends.
Availability of the Q&A feature
The Microsoft 365 Roadmap entry suggests that the new Q&A feature is expected to become available for users by the end of this month. Moreover, the company has also confirmed that this feature will work for users across all platforms including — web, desktop, mobile, Android and iOS once it gets released.
Importance of the Q&A feature
Teams meeting organisers will be able to create “either moderated or unmoderated Q&A experience,” by enabling the upcoming feature, notes the Microsoft 365 Roadmap entry. However, the report mentions that the Q&A feature will be available “across Microsoft Teams meetings and webinars,” but the meeting organiser needs to enable this feature.
Other changes coming for Microsoft Teams
The report suggests that the Q&A feature is the latest addition to the long list of features and upgrades included in Microsoft Teams to “make the platform smarter and more interactive for users around the world.”
One of these features includes “the addition of several generations of avatars” that can represent the participants on a call using the Microsoft Teams Together Mode, which also displays a live avatar for everyone present in the call. Moreover, Microsoft has also announced its plans to debut 3D avatars soon along with more immersive Microsoft Teams meetings within the so-called “metaverse” later this year.
Apart from these, the company has also confirmed that it will be adding multiple basic games to Microsoft Teams “to help users pass the time whilst waiting for a call to begin.” This move will include several titles from the company’s Casual Games platform which will help users “kill a few minutes.” For example, users can enjoy a quick game of Connect 4 while waiting for someone to join the call.
