Microsoft Teams to get new collaboration tools: What are they – Times of India

Microsoft Inspire, the company’s partner-focused event is scheduled to take place soon and before that, the tech giant has announced a few new collaboration tools for its Teams video-calling platform. According to a report by XDA Developers, most of the announcements made by the Redmond-based tech giant are aimed at Teams and the most notable among them is the upcoming Excel Live feature. Microsoft introduced the Live Share feature at Build earlier this year and the upcoming collaborative tool is also built on top of this feature, the report suggests. Apart from the latest Teams features, the company has also introduced the Windows 365 Government tool that helps in bringing cloud PCs to government customers in the US.
Microsoft Teams’ upcoming Excel Live feature
As mentioned earlier, the upcoming Excel Live service is built upon Microsoft’s recently released Live Share feature that allows users to “collaborate on certain content within the Teams meeting window.” The report suggests that the upcoming Excel Live tool will also use the Live Share feature to allow members who have participated in a Teams meeting to “edit Excel workbooks simultaneously with other people on a call.” Microsoft has also updated the Teams SDK for developers to “build collaborative experiences for Live Share.”
Microsoft Teams collaborative annotations
Microsoft is also adding collaborative annotations to Teams which will allow users to utilise the suite of tools provided by Microsoft Whiteboard to draw or type on top of content shared in a meeting. The report states that this feature is already widely available. Moreover, Teams is also making it easy for users to send a video message to someone by adding the ability to record and send videos directly within the app.
