Microsoft to stop selling this version of Windows, here’s what it means for users – Times of India
The company has published a notice on the Windows 10 Home, Pro and Workstation pages that will stop the digital downloads of all versions of Windows 10 on January 31, 2023.
The notice reads, “January 31, 2023, will be the last day this Windows 10 download is offered for sale. Windows 10 will remain supported with security updates that help protect your PC from viruses, spyware, and other malware until October 14, 2025,” Microsoft’s Windows 10 Home product page says. Windows 10 Pro’s product page says the same.”
What it means for users
Essentially, the only thing that means for users is that they will no longer be able to purchase Windows 10 license and download it officially from Microsoft. This means someone is looking to purchase a fresh copy of Windows 10 and install it on their device, that option will no longer be available.
However, it is important to highlight that the users will still be able to purchase Windows 10 via third-party vendors and retailers.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has already ended the support for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. This means Microsoft has stopped offering basic support like security and fixes to the operating system. Do note, that the PCs running Windows 8/8.1 will keep on working, except it won’t receive any new features or security updates.
