Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard Acquisition to be Approved by EU Soon: Report
As we all know, Microsoft proposed the biggest acquisition in the gaming industry all the way back at the beginning of 2022. After jumping, skipping and dodging through all the hurdles and obstacles that came their way, it seems Microsoft might finally be able to go through with this deal after more than a year of running around courts. Check out when Microsoft is expected to acquire Activision Blizzard below.
According to a report by Reuters, it seems that the gigantic, $69 billion acquisition might be approved by the EU antitrust regulators in the coming week, May 15 being the most probable date for this to happen. It seems that the deal is receiving an all-clear thanks to all the licensing deals that Microsoft has set in place with some of its biggest rivals in the gaming industry. The EU has to make a final decision by May 22, so we will have to wait till then to know for sure.
In terms of cloud streaming deals, Microsoft has made these deals with NVIDIA, Boosteroid and Ubitus. In terms of Nintendo, it has promised to bring Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard titles to its platform for the next ten years. Furthermore, the biggest PC market store, Steam, has not made any sort of deal with the company and says that it trusts Microsoft to not behave in an anticompetitive manner.
