Bethel scored five times in the first two innings and never trailed en route to a 9-4 win over Campbellsville in today’s opener.

Jacob Foster provided an RBI single in the first inning and Ivan Vega followed with an RBI single in the second to help the Wildcats (18-22) build a 5-0 lead. Vega finished with a team-high three hits and a pair of RBIs in the win.

Bethel finished the game outhitting the Tigers 13-2.

Campbellsville (23-23) cut the deficit to 5-3 with a run in the third and two more in the fourth. But Bethel answered with two runs in each of the fourth and seventh innings to provide some breathing room in the win.

Alexis Rodriguez picked up the win, allowing just four runs on one hit over his six innings of work. He struck out seven while walking eight. Ryan White earned his first save of the season with three innings of one-hit relief.

Georgetown scored six times in its final at-bat, including a three-run walk-off home run by Maxwell Baldaccini, to beat Cumberland 9-6.

The Tigers (31-18) entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 6-3. Jaxon Spiegelberg and Andrew Cromwell provided back-to-back hits and a hit batsman loaded the bases bringing the winning run to the plate. Following a strikeout, Hank Schineller drove home two runs with a single of the middle.

Georgetown tied the game two batters later on a fielder’s choice by pinch hitter Chris O’Neal setting up Baldaccini’s heroics. The game-winner nearly did not happen. O’Neal’s ground ball back to the mound nearly ended the game with a double play. But a throw that pulled Cumberland’s first baseman Nolan Machibroda off the first-base bag extended the game.

Baldaccini finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate with a team-high three RBIs. Schineller and Joshua Duarte each provided two RBIs in the win.

Machibroda led the Phoenix (11-41) with three hits, including a pair of home runs and four RBIs.

Christian Santillanes picked up the win in relief, allowing two runs on four hits over his four innings of work.
