Mission Impossible 8 Director Reveals Details About Shooting in ‘Brutal’ Arctic Location
Christopher McQuarrie, director of the final movie in the Mission: Impossible franchise has shared an update on the film shooting. The Instagram post seemingly confirms that the shooting for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two has ended.
Mission Impossible director says Arctic location was ‘more beautiful than brutal’
McQuarrie revealed that the Arctic location was brutal, yet more beautiful. He termed this location as the crew’s “greatest challenge yet”. The director thanked several production teams and authorities in Svalbard towards the end of the post.
At the end, McQuarrie wrote that Summer is coming soon, referring to the release of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in the summers. The Part One is currently in post-production.
Norway authorities block helicopter landings in Svalbard
While the shooting at Arctic looks to be over, the team earlier faced challenges from authorities to shoot at some Arctic locations.
The Guardian reported that local Norwegian authorities denied requests for 40 helicopters to land as to protect the local wildlife from disruptions.
The shoots were planned in Svalbard which is a protected archipelago between Norway and the North Pole. The team did not receive permission to shoot in that particular spot, but as the director’s post confirms, shooting in other areas in Svalbard did take place.
McQuarrie first teased shooting for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two in the Arctic location with an Instagram post featuring Lucy Tulugarjuk who has joined the cast in an unannounced role.
