MIUI 13 teased by Redmi GM, could release before the end of this year | 91mobiles.com

MIUI 12.5 is Xiaomi’s current custom skin over Android 11 and it is claimed to have improved the user experience vastly in comparison to the previous versions with faster animations and pretty little bloatware. Now, it appears the Chinese company is readying the next major version of MIUI, called MIUI 13. A few days ago, Xiaomi officially announced the release plan of the third stable version of the MIUI 12.5 enhanced version. It should complete the full push for its release in all of Xiaomi’s devices by late December.

The MIUI 12.5 enhanced version has been upgraded in four major areas, including liquid storage, atomic memory, focus computing, and smart balance. A few days ago, Redmi general manager Lu Weibing hinted through Weibo (via GizmoChina) that MIUI 13 is coming soon. Sharing its MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition update plan for the third batch of devices, he hinted that MIUI 13 is “not far behind”.

This somewhat suggests that the next iteration of MIUI could go official in December or by early next year at the rumored upcoming Xiaomi 12 series launch event in China. Xiaomi introduced MIUI 12.5 at the Mi 11 launch conference at the end of December last year. Hence, we can expect a similar timing of the announcement, this time as well.

The MIUI 13 is said to bring new animations, fonts, redesigned app icons, an enhanced notification panel, and advanced privacy options. We can also expect enhanced ‘Always-on-display’ themes, a new power-saving mode to improve battery performance, an improved notification system that could allow managing older, and newer notifications and new wallpapers. We can expect more such features and the company might start teasing them in the next couple of weeks

MIUI 13 may also officially bring iOS-like widgetsSmart toolboxFront camera assistantMIUI Pure ModeMemory extension, new MIUI+ features, and more. Last but not least, there could also be a customised version for Redmi devices as they could come with inferior specifications, in comparison to Xiaomi’s flagship devices. Stay tuned for further updates.
