With this victory, the Washington Freedom moved up to the second spot on the points table, while the San Francisco Unicorns remained in fourth place with two wins from four matches.
Batting first, the Washington Freedom posted a total of 133/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Andries Gous got the team off to a promising start with two boundaries off Carmi le Roux’s bowling, reaching 21/0 in three overs.
However, the Unicorns’ Haris Rauf struck back, dismissing Gous for 23 runs off 16 balls in the fourth over. The Unicorns further put the pressure on the Freedom, reducing them to 33/4 after quickly dismissing Matthew Short, Glenn Phillips, and Mukhtar Ahmed.
Despite the early setbacks, Captain Moises Henriques and Obus Pienaar stitched together a valuable partnership of 40 runs from 37 balls, guiding the Washington Freedom to a score of 73/5 in 12.2 overs.
Nevertheless, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, leaving the team in a challenging position.

In the second innings, Finn Allen of the San Francisco Unicorns started with a flourish, hitting three boundaries off Marco Jansen’s bowling in the opening over.
However, Anrich Nortje claimed Allen’s wicket for 13 runs off 9 balls in the third over, providing an early breakthrough for the Washington Freedom.
Saurabh Netravalkar further exacerbated the Unicorns’ troubles by dismissing Marcus Stoinis and Shadab Khan in the fourth over.
Netravalkar continued to be the star of the bowling attack, securing the crucial wicket of Matthew Wade and ultimately finishing with a remarkable spell of 6/9.
Despite a fighting knock of 34 runs from Corey Anderson, the Unicorns found no substantial support from the other end, ultimately folding for 103 in 19.5 overs.
