Modern Warfare 3 maps, campaign details, Mini-map, ADS, Zombies and beta news
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has been revealed in full. Launching on November 10, this year’s Call of Duty is said to have one of the “greatest collections of Modern Warfare multiplayer maps”, featuring a selection of new and classic battlegrounds dating back to 2009. That’s on top of additional maps for Ground War, Invasion and War, plus a huge Zombies open-world. You can watch the brand new Modern Warfare 3 gameplay reveal further down the page.
Activision explains more: “All 16 launch maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernised with new modes and gameplay features and will be available at launch to get everyone started, while over 12 new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.
Classic maps include Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Highrise, Invasion, Karachi, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland.
In addition to the 16 core launch maps, Modern Warfare 3 will launch with four huge environments containing a “host of new play spaces”.
This includes three new Battle Maps that will be used for the game’s Ground War and Invasion modes, plus “one War map that will support the epic return and evolution of the popular War Mode that first debuted in Call of Duty: WWll (2017)”.
Activision has promised to release a further 12 core 6v6 maps in the weeks and months after launch.
Multiplayer will feature classic game modes like Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed, as well as brand new 3v3v3 mode called Cutthroat.
In terms of gameplay, Activision unveiled the new Tac-Stance system, which is designed for tactical close-quarters combat.
That’s on top of returning features such as the heavily rumoured classic Minimap, with red dots indicating when an enemy is firing an unsuppressed weapon, not to mention map voting in multiplayer.
Players can also expect faster Aim Down Sights (ADS) out of slide, as well as refined reload cancel and slide cancels.
Core multiplayer health is increased in order to lengthen the time-to-kill, while perks – including the new Covert Sneakers silent movement perk – will be available at the start of a match.
Elsewhere, Activision has confirmed that all weapons and Operator content from Modern Warfare 2 will carry over to MW3.
Zombies also makes a return, only this time in a massive open-world where squads can team up together to battle the hordes.
“Developed by Treyarch, Modern Warfare Zombies tells an unearthly Dark Aether story set in the Modern Warfare universe with missions, core Zombies features and secrets to discover.
“Players will experience an open world PvE extraction survival experience where core Zombies features come together with new mechanics, and they face off against some of the biggest enemies in Call of Duty history.”
Finally, Activision has confirmed that a beta is planned for Modern Warfare 3, with pre-order customers receiving early access to the limited time multiplayer experience. Exact dates will be revealed in the coming weeks.
