Moises Caicedo has hinted he’d pick Man Utd over Chelsea or Liverpool

Manchester United could battle it out with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool to get their hands on Brighton ace Moises Caicedo. And the 20-year-old midfielder has already hinted that he would pick a move to Old Trafford over a transfer to their two Premier League rivals.

Brighton signed Caicedo from Ecuadorian club Independiente at the start of 2021. The Seagulls then loaned him out to Belgian side Beerschot at the beginning of last season as they attempted to get him ready for life in the Premier League.

But he returned to Sussex in January and went on to star for Brighton during the latter stages of the last campaign. This season, he has started all six of his team’s matches and got his name on the scoresheet when the Seagulls thumped Leicester 5-2 earlier this month.

Caicedo’s performances have brought him to the attentions of a whole host of clubs. But during his time with Independiente, he chose the Red Devils as the team he would most like to play for in England. “My dream is to play for Manchester United because I like English football,” he said in 2020. “The pace is very high, and Manchester United are my favourite club.”

And last week, Valencia himself even got in on the debate over Caicedo’s future. “Hopefully Caicedo can go to a big team in England,” explained the double Premier League winner. “He is a humble boy – he was born to be great and hopefully he can come to Manchester United.”

Caicedo, who has still only made 16 appearances for Brighton, is currently on international duty with Ecuador and played the full 90 minutes as his country drew 0-0 with Saudi Arabia on Friday. And after Ecuador’s clash with Japan this Tuesday, the youngster will return to Brighton ahead of their Premier League showdown with Liverpool on Saturday.
