Muppets Mayhem: Disney Plus Reveals First Images and New Details

Disney has revealed some new details about its upcoming Muppets spinoff series starring the members of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

The new series — titled The Muppets Mayhem — is coming to Disney+ later this year. As reported by EW (where some first-look images can be seen), the show will veer away from Kermit and Miss Piggy to instead focus on Animal, Dr. Teeth, and the rest of the members from the Muppets band.

As for the human characters, the show will focus on aspiring record producer Nora, her social media influencer sister Hannah, and Electric Mayhem superfan Gary as they help the group of Muppets record their first album. The human characters will be played by Lilly Singh, Saara Chaudry, and Tahj Mowry.

The show will also honor the band’s 1970s origins with co-creator Jeff Yorkes saying, “But they’re definitely from a different era. The conceit of the show is bringing this old school band to the modern age and way of making music. That’s the comedy of it.”

Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem will also perform plenty of classic rock, as the creators said the first half of the ten-episode season is neatly all classic rock covers. But as the show progresses, more original songs will appear as the band continues work on their album.

EW also shared some exclusive photos of the new show. The images show a jam session with the band, the group performing live on stage, and Animal hanging upside down, for some reason.

The Muppets Mayhem is the franchise’s first new television series since 2015’s The Muppets, which took a Office-style mockumentary approach to Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the gang. This series was created by The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg along with with Bill Barretta and Yorkes.
