Musk: Twitter to get a new CEO, this is what Elon Musk has to say – Times of India
Musk said, “I think I need to stabilize the organization and just make sure it’s in a financial (sic) healthy place. I’m guessing probably toward the end of this year would be good timing to find someone else to run the company.”
The backstory of CEO change
Not too long ago, Musk held a ‘decisive’ poll on the platform. The question: Should Musk stay Twitter’s chief executive or not? And, over the course of the poll, the Twitterati voted in favour of a new CEO to lead the social media giant.
Soon after the results, Musk confirmed his plan to leave the position and abide by the poll. In a tweet, he said “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”
Furthermore, he said, “Twitter is still somewhat a startup in reverse.” “There’s work required here to get Twitter to sort of a stable position and to really build the engine of software engineering,” he added.
Musk plans to “reflect” values rather than “impose” them
The billionaire drew a line between his handling of Twitter compared to that of his predecessor. He said, “I think that the general idea is just to reflect the values of the people as opposed to imposing the values of essentially San Francisco and Berkeley, which are so somewhat of a niche ideology as compared to the rest of the world … And, you know, Twitter was, I think, doing a little too much to impose a niche.”
