Nate Robinson talks NBA dunk contest wins, Kobe Bryant erupting for 61 at MSG and more on #NBAHooperVision

On Monday night (Feb. 7), the duo of Quentin Richardson and Jamal Crawford came together for another stream of NBA HooperVision on NBA League Pass.

Providing their insights on the Knicks-Jazz game from Salt Lake City, the duo welcomed their former teammate with the Knicks Nate Robinson as a guest.

The 11-year NBA veteran, who was teammates with Richardson and Crawford between 2005 and 2008, last played in the league in 2016.

One of Robinson’s biggest accomplishments in the NBA were his three wins at the All-Star Saturday’s Slam Dunk Contest.

His three wins (2006, 09, 10) are the most in NBA history and at 5-foot-9, he is the second-shortest ever to win it.

“I was a fan of Spud Webb growing up,” Robinson talks about the legendary 5-foot-7 Slam Dunk contest winner.

“My dad used to show highlights of him, being the little guy amongst the trees.”

As teammates, Robinson and Richardson witnessed one of the greatest games at the Knicks’ home arena – the Madison Square Garden – during the 2008-09 season (Jamal Crawford was traded to the Warriors only a couple of months earlier).

“When I was on the bench, I was like “this is the best seat in the house” to sit here and watch this massacre,” Robinson recounts sitting courtside while Kobe Bryant erupted for 61 points – then a MSG scoring record.

Currently aged 37, Robinson hasn’t officially retired from the NBA.

In his 11 years in the league, he represented eight franchises – New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder and the New Orleans Pelicans.

However, the former Knicks guard has found a lot of happiness in fatherhood as he watches his kids play the sport he loves.

Stay tuned for more from NBA’s HooperVision stream on NBA League Pass.
